What is the grade of the hadith

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : We want to ask you about a case.

The Shaykh: Go ahead.

The questioner : A man said to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): "We seek intercession with Allah on your behalf, and we seek intercession with you on the behalf of Allah." He said:
The status of Allah is greater than that, that He is not sought for intercession on behalf of any of His creation. شأن الله أعظم من ذلك إنه لا يستشفع به على أحد من خلقه
What is the grade of the authenticity of the hadith?

The Shaykh : It contains Ibn Lahi'ah, and it is weak.

The questioner : I rarely speak up.

The questioner : ... We used to call for aid to the Messenger of Allah, he said:
That He is not called upon for aid ... إنه لا يستغاث بي ...
for al-Tabarani.

The Shaykh : ... But it is weak, yes.

The questioner : Waki' ibn 'Ubayd is the one in it.

The Shaykh : It is authentic, it does not contain Ibn Lahi'ah, but it contains obscurity.

The questioner : There is a problem; ask the Shaykh about the text, the problem is in the text.

The Shaykh : What is the problem?

The questioner : We know the hadith, but the interpretation of what came in it, "We seek intercession with Allah on your behalf," we need the meaning of this.

The Shaykh : First, I say the question, my brother, especially when a problem arises from a mistake, because it is based on a weak hadith.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : Well, if the hadith is weak, what does it mean that it is a weak hadith? It means that one of its narrators has weakness in his memory, so what happens? He narrates the hadith inverted, different from reality, and so on, but the language is broad.

The questioner: Correct.

The Shaykh : A person may find an interpretation for such a phrase.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : But does this dead matter deserve such effort?

The questioner : I only wanted, from the linguistic side, if you have something on this.

The Shaykh : Well, repeat the phrase.

The questioner : We seek intercession with Allah on your behalf.

The Shaykh : Yes, we seek intercession with Allah on your behalf, and then?

The questioner : And we seek intercession with you on the behalf of Allah.

The Shaykh : And we seek intercession with you on the behalf of Allah, yes, and by Allah I do not remember, and it seems the brothers will remember the words of Ibn Taymiyyah, or the words are apparently reprehensible, which indicates and confirms the weakness of the hadith. What do you remember? What did Ibn Taymiyyah say?

The questioner : We ask you by Allah on your behalf.

The Shaykh : The first one.

The questioner : The second phrase, we ask you for intercession to Allah.

The Shaykh : The second one has no problem, the first one does.

The questioner : We do not seek intercession with Allah on the behalf of anyone.

The Shaykh : The question is about the first phrase, not the second. Read the first phrase.

The questioner : We seek intercession with Allah on your behalf.

The Shaykh : What does it mean?

The questioner : This is what I remember from the words of the Shaykh al-Islam.

The Shaykh : Yes, what does he say?

The questioner : It means we swear you by Allah, we ask you by Allah.

The Shaykh : What?

The questioner : It means we swear you by Allah.

The questioner : This is the second one, not the first one.

The questioner : The first one is: We seek intercession with Allah on your behalf.

The Shaykh : Yes, what does it mean?

The questioner : It means Allah is our intercessor with you.

The Shaykh : And the second one?

The questioner : We seek intercession with you on the behalf of Allah.

The Shaykh : What is the difference between the two phrases?

The questioner : One person.

The questioner : The first one: We ask you, O Muhammad, by Allah on your behalf. The second one: We ask you to intercede for us with Allah.

The Shaykh : So you interpret intercession as asking?

The questioner : It seems so.

The Shaykh : Intercession does not mean that. "We seek intercession with Allah on your behalf" this goes with the misguidance of the misguided.

The questioner : It is a dangerous word.

The questioner : This hadith is weak...

The questioner : ... The matter of Allah is greater than that we should seek intercession with Him on the behalf of any of His creation.

The questioner : This is what you are asking about, you are asking in the wrong place, as if the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)...

The questioner : Like one person saying to another...

The questioner : Meaning, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), if this hadith were authentic, would have rejected this request from him...The questioner .

The Shaykh : Yes, He is greater than that.

The questioner : As if, and may Allah protect us, the Messenger was exalted to the point that the Messenger orders... to intercede with Allah, until Allah intercedes with the Messenger.

The Shaykh : Yes, exactly.

The questioner : From here he rejected it. Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, is not sought as an intercessor with anyone other than Himself.

The Shaykh :
Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? من ذا الذي يشفع عنده إلا بإذنه
[Al-Baqarah 2:255]
.

The questioner : In this way, O Shaykh, what is your opinion in brief? I am selling it to a relative of al-Rafai.

The questioner: And upon you peace.

The questioner : We have returned to Shaykh Ghazi.

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
