In His saying, the Exalted, on the tongue of Yusuf (peace be upon him)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Yusuf (peace be upon him) said to his companion, whom he thought would be saved from the two of them:
Mention me before your master." But Satan made him forget the mention [to] his master, and Joseph remained in prison several years. اذكرني عند ربك فأنساه الشيطان ذكره ربه فلبث في السجن بضع سنين
[Yusuf 12:42]
Is it that he is a man who, in his heart, seeks salvation from this man by mentioning him to the king? And is this permissible, or does it conflict with the infallibility of the prophets, who naturally do not fall into error?

The Shaykh : No, he adopted a means from the material causes, nothing more, that he would mention to the king or the Aziz that there is a man with such and such characteristics. This does not contain anything that conflicts with infallibility, but it is not of the highest perfection, and perfection has no limits; perfection belongs to Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) alone. However, there is no disobedience in it and no transgression; rather, it is the adoption of the means known among people.

The questioner : Meaning, his remaining in prison for this period was...

The Shaykh : Because he did not hear and did not know.
