What is the meaning of His saying (Mighty and Majestic): “And We place the scales of justice”; is the scale one or multiple?

The questioner : Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said: ; is the scale on the Day of Resurrection one or multiple scales?

The Shaykh : There is no doubt that the wording of the Qur'an is not permissible to change or alter; so as long as Allah (Mighty and Majestic) used the term “scales,” they are scales, and there is no objection to these scales being different, as we know from matters of the unseen, and it is not befitting for us to imagine them as a specific scale, especially since scales in this world today have multiplied and varied? So it is all the more likely that on the Day of Resurrection there will be multiple scales; so as long as Allah (Mighty and Majestic) pluralized the scales in such a Qur'anic expression, I believe that interpreting the scales as a single scale is a form of denial of the divine attributes, and this is not the method of the Salaf.
