The questioner : The Friday Bath and the Bath for Major Ritual Impurity: Is there evidence for combining them with a single intention?

The Shaykh : There is no evidence for that. However, in *Al-Mustadrak* by al-Hakim, there is a hadith from Abu Qatadah al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that he passed by his son who was taking a bath on Friday, and he said to him, "Is this bath of yours the bath for major ritual impurity or the Friday bath?" He said, "It is the bath for major ritual impurity." He said to him, "Add another bath to it; for I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say..." Then he mentioned a hadith from those hadiths that contain the command to take the Friday bath, but its exact wording does not come to my mind now.
