A woman who entered Islam was living in the Netherlands, and she has a disbelieving husband and children; what should she do for her family?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The other question: Your Eminence,The Shaykh : (may Allah preserve you), a Western woman entered Islam, and she was living in the Netherlands, and she has a disbelieving husband and children; what should she do for her family? It is known that if she divorces her husband, he will take her children from her... by law? ... And if she stays with them, perhaps she will be able to get them, and leave the country.

The Shaykh : The ruling in this matter is that a person starts with himself and then with others. It is not permissible for a Muslim woman, no matter how many children she has from a disbelieving husband—after she has embraced Islam—it is not permissible for her to remain in the marriage of a disbelieving husband. Rather, she must flee with her religion and emigrate, if she is able, to the land of Islam. Then, after that, she should strive, using the means available to her, to free her children from their disbelieving father. If she is unable to do anything, then it is sufficient for her that she saves herself from that wicked disbeliever having sexual relations with her.
