Combining the husband's and wife's wealth for the family's needs
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: I am an employee, and my wife is as well. Since we got married, our money has been shared; that is, after paying the salaries, I use what we receive from both salaries to cover the household expenses, and then whatever remains of the money goes into things concerning the family's future, such as building a house, buying a vehicle, and so on. Is this (the wife's money) forbidden for the husband, given that the wife agrees to it? I ask you to guide me to the truth so that I may get out of the problem of unlawful earnings, and I thank you very much.
Answer: If the wife permits the sharing in the manner described and she is of sound mind, there is nothing wrong with it; because Allah the Exalted said: [Surat al-Nisa: 4]. But if she is a minor or not of sound mind, do not take anything from her money, and keep it safe for her. May Allah guide everyone to what He is pleased with.
Answer: If the wife permits the sharing in the manner described and she is of sound mind, there is nothing wrong with it; because Allah the Exalted said:
But if they give up willingly to you anything of it, then take it in satisfaction and ease.
