Is reminding a sleeping person in the second adhan with the phrase "Prayer is better than sleep" to wake them up considered cooperation in righteousness and piety?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Is it not a form of cooperation in righteousness and piety? A person might be sleeping and is reminded when he hears the iqamah and hears the adhan? And from which of the etiquettes or excuses might this fall under? The Fajr prayer might be the case.

The Shaykh : And in the Fajr prayer, you are still saying in the second adhan: "Prayer is better than sleep."

The questioner : Which second?

The Shaykh : The second adhan.

The questioner: Yes, that is it.

The Shaykh : Fajr has two adhans; the first adhan is before the time of Fajr by about ten minutes, a quarter of an hour at most. It is recommended (sunnah) for the mu'adhdhin to... the second adhan; that is: when the true dawn appears, at that time the mu'adhdhin calls the adhan and says in this adhan—and it is the second one relative to the first adhan, of course: "Prayer is better than sleep." O people, prayer is better than sleep for those who are sleeping! So these people have woken up; what is the benefit of your saying in the second adhan: "Prayer is better than sleep," when you know that the Sunnah is to hasten and be early for the Fajr prayer? This is a change of the Sunnah of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), where in his time, in the first adhan, it was: "Prayer is better than sleep," and it was he who taught his mu'adhdhin Abu Mahdhura al-Makki this.
You are now raising an objection. This objection is the source of all the religious innovations (bid'ah) that we all—may Allah will it—participate in denying; because it involves correcting the Wise Lawgiver. Why did not our Lord, through the tongue of His Prophet, make the iqamah like the adhan? Was He negligent?
And never is your Lord forgetful - وما كان ربُّك نسيًّا
[Maryam 19:64]
, so how is it correct for us to say, O Shaykh, that there is a benefit in making the iqamah audible to people? If our Lord (Mighty and Majestic) had wanted that, He would have legislated it through the tongue of His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and would not have distinguished between the adhan and the iqamah. And I think you did not hear the hadith regarding the legitimacy of the adhan when you said that the person who was seen in the dream called the adhan from the top of a minaret. Did you?

The questioner : I was there.

The Shaykh : Excellent, and did you hear that when he called the iqamah, he came down?

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : Yes, whether you are the one saying it or you are reporting it from someone else, it does not matter to me. This is an error and it is not permissible to say; because this legislation was built upon this vision. The evidence is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said when the one who saw the vision came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and related the vision to him, he (may the prayer and peace of Allah be upon him) said:
It is a true vision; so convey it to Bilal—or convey him to Bilal—for his voice is more resonant than yours إنها رؤيا حق ؛ فألقِها على بلال - أو فألقه على بلال - فإنه أندى صوتًا منك
, so Bilal used to call the adhan from the roof of the mosque, and he used to call the iqamah inside the mosque; so how does it occur to the mind of a Muslim, but if he calls the iqamah as he calls the adhan to announce the iqamah as he announces the adhan, there is a benefit for the one who is sleeping or inattentive? So let us say, as they say in Sham, after the adhan, one of the people present in the mosque opens the window and says: "Prayer, O worshippers, prayer!" And what did the one who called the adhan in the minaret do? And what is the benefit of this adhan? Is it not for announcement? So either we say that this is an innovation and that is the only Sunnah, or we say: No, this is a good innovation; because it involves announcing to the people, and in that is disbelief itself, if they only knew, if they only remembered; because Allah (Mighty and Majestic), as we mentioned earlier, said:
And never is your Lord forgetful - وما كان ربك نسيًّا
[Maryam 19:64]
and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say:
I have not left anything that brings you closer to Allah except that I have commanded you to do it ما تركتُ شيئًا يقرِّبكم إلى الله إلا وأمرتكم به
, and this discussion is actually a long one—also—related to the first question, I think, regarding the good and bad innovation, and is there a good and bad innovation? Or is the matter as he (peace and blessings be upon him) said, without doubt or doubt:
every innovation is going astray, and every going astray is in the Fire كل بدعة ضلالة ، وكل ضلالة في النار
Sunan an-Nasa'i 1578Sahih (Darussalam)
.
We ask Allah (Mighty and Majestic) to teach us the Sunnah of our Prophet, and to make us know its value and its status, and that we adhere to its limits and do not transgress them to what people consider good or follow. And this is sufficient, so go to the mosque.
