The Shaykh: In this point, namely because a person cannot approach the likeness of the patience of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), he brought a second hadith related to one of the attributes of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), which is the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). And thus, the approximation and similarity will remain consistent between the person commanded to be characterized by the attribute of patience and this perfect human being, of whom you will hear what has come regarding his patience. That is the second hadith in the "Chapter on Patience in the Face of Harm." The author (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated it with his authentic chain from Abdullah, and Abdullah here is Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him). He said: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) distributed a distribution as he used to distribute, so a man from the Ansar said: 'By Allah, this is a distribution in which the face of Allah was not intended.'"
This is a statement made regarding the most just of all people, namely the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). It was said regarding him: "By Allah, this is a distribution in which the face of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) was not intended." I said: I am the one. Abdullah ibn Mas'ud says: "I would surely tell the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." It appears that this Ansari said this statement away from the Messenger (peace be upon him) in the presence of the Companions, and Abdullah ibn Mas'ud was among them, so he said: "I would surely tell the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." So I went to him while he was with his companions, and I whispered it to him. That was distressing to him (peace and blessings be upon him), his face changed, and he became angry, until I wished that I had not informed him. Then he said:Sahih al-Bukhari 6100.
The hadith is clear in meaning, in that when spoils of war came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), either due to wars or due to the jizyah (tax on protected non-Muslims) he imposed as a result of reconciliation after the victory of the Muslim army, it was his custom (peace be upon him) that when money came to him, he would bring it to the mosque and distribute it among the people. And naturally, he would distribute it in a division in which he considered matters that other people do not perceive. For example, he might give a person more than another. Why? Because of his precedence in Islam, or his good service in Islam. It appears to some with deficient faith and intellect that there is favoritism in this, when in reality there is nothing of favoritism. And sometimes the opposite occurs: he gives a person who is new to Islam, who has no precedence in Islam and no jihad in Islam, more than one who has precedence in Islam. So some with limited intellect find that objectionable and say, "How is this? He only became a Muslim yesterday; he has not attended a single battle. How can he be generous with his giving?" This person is ignorant that the Messenger is giving him to reconcile him, to reconcile his heart. And he may be an heir in his people, so if he brings his heart to him, those behind him from his people will be brought in. Thus, this is a Shari'ah policy that no one does well like the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). So he (peace and blessings be upon him) one day made a distribution as was his custom, as we mentioned in this explanation. So a man from the Ansar said: "This is a distribution in which the face of Allah was not intended." So this Ansari was short-sighted, as I explained earlier, that he says, "Why does he give this one more than this one?" So Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) heard this word and conveyed it to the Messenger (peace be upon him), whispering it to him, meaning he said it to him in secret. When he (peace be upon him) heard that, it was heavy for him; it was distressing to him, the features of his face changed, and the signs of anger appeared on him, until Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) wished that he had not informed him of this news from which he (peace be upon him) was greatly distressed. So what was the position of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) toward this accusation that that Ansari leveled against him? He did not go beyond saying:Sahih al-Bukhari 6100.
In this hadith, there is a reference to the verse:[Al-Ahzab 33:69]. What was their harm? The hadith is as if it is quoted from the verse: that Musa was harmed with more than this. And therefore, Allah forbade His believing servants to harm those who had previously harmed Musa, meaning the Jews. What did the Jews do? They were filthy and wicked. Allah (Mighty and Majestic) was constantly bestowing favors upon them, sending prophets to them constantly and forever, until he (peace and blessings be upon him) said in the authentic hadith: , . So Allah (Mighty and Majestic), despite His favor and generosity toward the Jews by constantly and forever sending prophets to them who protected them from deviation, from straying, from misguidance, and from ignorance, they were still harsh... they were hard-hearted, as our Lord told us in the Qur'an, such as His saying: [Ali 'Imran 3:112]. So those who were killing the prophets without right, it is not much for them to harm Musa. So Allah cleared him of what they said. What did they say regarding Musa? The Jews, his followers, said that he was stingy. And I see the time has exceeded the scheduled time, so we will postpone the completion of this explanation to the next lesson. However, I mention that I will not be present for the next lesson immediately, because I am on a journey, and the lesson after that will be the meeting here, if Allah wills.
And all praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
