Explanation of the author's (may Allah have mercy on him) statement: Abdullah said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made a distribution, like some of the distributions he used to make, so a man from the Ansar said: By Allah

The Shaykh : That is the second hadith in the chapter on patience in the face of harm. The author (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated it with his authentic chain from Abdullah, and Abdullah here is Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him). He says: “The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made a distribution, like some of the distributions he used to make, so a man from the Ansar said: By Allah, this is a distribution in which His face is not sought”. This is a statement made about the most just of people, namely the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). It was said about him: “By Allah, this is a distribution in which the face of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) is not sought”. I, Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, said: “I will surely tell the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family)”. It appears that this Ansari man said this statement away from the Messenger (peace be upon him) in the presence of the Companions, and Abdullah ibn Mas'ud was among them. So he said: “I will surely tell the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family). So I went to him while he was with his companions and I whispered it to him. That was distressing for him (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), his face changed, and he became angry, until I wished I had not informed him”. Then he said:
Moses was harmed with more than this, yet he remained patient. قد أوذي موسى بأكثر من ذلك فصبر
Sahih al-Bukhari 6100
. The hadith is clear in its meanings, in that when the spoils of war came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), whether due to wars or due to the jizyah he took as a result of truces after the Muslim army's victory, it was his custom (peace be upon him) that when money came to him, he would bring it to the mosque and distribute it among the people. Naturally, he distributed it in a way that considered matters that other people do not perceive. For example, he might give a person more than another. Why? Because of his precedence in Islam, or his good conduct in Islam. It may appear to some with deficient faith and intellect that there is favoritism here, when in reality there is nothing of favoritism. And sometimes, on the contrary, he gives a person who is new to Islam, with no precedence in Islam and no jihad in Islam, more than one who has precedence in Islam. So some of the short-sighted people object to that and say: How is this? He embraced Islam yesterday and has not yet witnessed a battle, so why is his share increased? This person is ignorant that the Messenger is giving him this to reconcile him, to reconcile his heart. He may be a leader among his people, so if he brings his heart to him, he brings those behind him from his tribe. This is the Shari'ah policy that no one does better than the Messenger (may the prayers and peace of Allah be upon him). So he (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) one day made a distribution as was his custom, according to this explanation we mentioned. So a man from the Ansar said: “This is a distribution in which His face is not sought”. This Ansari man was short-sighted, as I explained earlier... He said: Why does he give this person more than this? So Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) heard this word and conveyed it to the Messenger (peace be upon him) and whispered it to him, meaning he said it to him in secret. When he (peace be upon him) heard that, it was heavy for him; that was heavy for him, and the features of his face changed, and the signs of anger appeared on him, until Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) wished he had not informed him of this news that caused him (peace be upon him) this great distress. So what was the position of the Messenger (peace be upon him) toward this accusation that that Ansari man accused him of? He did not go beyond saying:
Moses was harmed with more than this, yet he remained patient. قد أوذي موسى بأكثر من ذلك فصبر
Sahih al-Bukhari 6100
. In this hadith is a reference to the verse:
be not like those who abused Moses لا تكونوا كالذين آذوا موسى
[Al-Ahzab 33:69]
. What was their harm? The hadith is as if it is quoted from the verse, that Musa was harmed more than this, so Allah forbade His believing servants from harming. Those who harmed Musa before, meaning the Jews, what did they do? The Jews were filthy and wicked. Allah (Mighty and Majestic) was always bestowing favors upon them, sending prophets to them constantly and always, until he (may the prayers and peace of Allah be upon him) said in the authentic hadith:
Among those before you, whenever a prophet died, a prophet succeeded him. And there is no prophet after me. كان من قبلكم كلما مات نبي خلفه نبي ألا ولا نبي بعدي
. So Allah (Mighty and Majestic), despite His favor and generosity toward the Jews by sending prophets to them constantly and always to protect them from deviation, from straying, from misguidance, and from ignorance, they were... they were hard-hearted, as our Lord told us in the Qur'an, in such as His saying:
killed the prophets without right ويقتلون الأنبياء بغير حق
[Ali 'Imran 3:112]
. So those who were killing the prophets without right, it is not much for them to harm Musa. So Allah cleared him of what they said. What did they say about Musa, the Jews who were his followers? And they said that he was old and he saw that the time had exceeded the appointed time, so we will postpone the completion of this... to the next lesson. But I mention that I will not be present for the next lesson immediately because I am on a journey, but the lesson after that will be the meeting here, if Allah wills, and praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
This member takes its natural position until the story is repeated like this. The woman runs and the cat bites her, so she runs and runs, and the place of the bite becomes sound, so she bites her, and she is tortured with the same instrument that she tortured her with. The summary of the speech regarding this hadith is a common saying, but it is wisdom. The stone... to what you like... she imprisoned the cat, so it was tortured by the fire because of this imprisonment. We can imagine that this came without care. We can imagine that she did not intend to tie it so it would not eat, but she tied it and then did not care about it and did not attend to its affairs until it died, so it was tortured because of it. And the opposite of that, what is in it? She descends and wets her shoe or sandal with water, then she gives that water to the dog... And Allah (Mighty and Majestic) forgives this prostitute woman and that man all their sins because of this deed that cannot be matched... But Allah (Mighty and Majestic), as He said:
(7) So whoever does an atom's weight of good will see it, (8) And whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it. ومن يعمل مثقال ذرة خيرا يره ومن يعمل مثقال ذرة شرا يره
[Az-Zalzalah 99:7-8]
. And peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah.
First of all, we printed it in the new house... except for two copies, and the reason is first... regarding its size, and second, because it is not an independent book. This is... the fifth and sixth of Da'if al-Jami' al-Saghir. Da'if al-Jami' al-Saghir is to me like Sahih al-Jami' al-Saghir, from one, two, three, four, five, six. The Sahih is all printed from years ago. The Da'if, four of it has been printed from years ago. Now Allah has facilitated for us, so we printed the completion of the Da'if and the fifth and sixth. If any of you has the previous parts or... with this same copy, because they will not send it from this book or these parts, but the previous parts are independent hadiths with an explanation of the majority of the hadiths circulating among people, and they are weak. This is specific to the Da'if... Oh Allah.

The questioner : Peace be upon you.
