The questioner : A group is going on a trip on Friday, and the trip location is far from the mosque; is it permissible for one of them to deliver the sermon to them?
The Shaykh : If they are at a distance where they can hear the mosque's adhan, the natural adhan that is not amplified by devices that carry the voice to far distances, then in that case, His saying, the Exalted, applies to them:[Al-Jumu'ah 62:9]. But if they are in a place where they do not hear such an adhan, we see—and we are not saying now anything contrary to what we said earlier—that this is the opinion of the minority of scholars; we see that as long as there is among them someone who delivers the sermon and someone who leads them, even if it is only three people, they pray Jumu'ah and do not pray Zuhr.
The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
The Shaykh : And beware of that.
The Shaykh : If they are at a distance where they can hear the mosque's adhan, the natural adhan that is not amplified by devices that carry the voice to far distances, then in that case, His saying, the Exalted, applies to them:
O you who have believed, when [the adhan] is called for the prayer on the day of Jumu'ah [Friday], then proceed to the remembrance of Allah
The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
The Shaykh : And beware of that.
