The questioner : The group is going on a trip on Friday, and the location of the trip is far from the mosque. Is it permissible for one of them to deliver a sermon to them?
The Shaykh : If they are at a distance where they can hear the mosque's adhan, the natural adhan that is not amplified by devices that carry the voice to far distances, then the statement of Allah the Exalted applies to them:[Al-Jumu'ah 62:9] However, if they are in a place where they cannot hear such an adhan, we hold, and we do not say now anything contrary to what we said earlier, that this is the opinion of the minority of scholars: we see that as long as there is among them someone who delivers the sermon and leads them, even if there are only three people, they should pray Jumu'ah and not pray Zuhr.
The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
The Shaykh : And you as well.
The Shaykh : If they are at a distance where they can hear the mosque's adhan, the natural adhan that is not amplified by devices that carry the voice to far distances, then the statement of Allah the Exalted applies to them:
O you who have believed, when [the adhan] is called for the prayer on the day of Jumu'ah [Friday], then proceed to the remembrance of Allah
يا أيها الذين آمنوا إذا نودي للصلاة يوم الجمعة فاسعوا إلى ذكر اللهThe questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
The Shaykh : And you as well.
