A Reminder Not to Preempt the Imam in Saying the Amen

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : I wish to point out now an error committed by the masses of worshippers. This error involves, first, disobedience to the command of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and second, a great and very great loss, which is that the Muslim does not attain the forgiveness of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). We do not worship Allah through our prayers, standing, and fasting except to attain the forgiveness of our Lord (Blessed and Exalted is He). You know, for example, His saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
He who fasts during Ramadan with faith and seeking his reward from God will have his past sins forgiven; he who prays during the night in Ramadan with faith and seeking his reward from God will have his past sins forgiven مَن صام رمضان إيمانًا واحتسابًا غُفِرَ له ما تقدَّم من ذنبه ، ومَن قام رمضان إيمانًا واحتسابًا غُفِرَ له ما تقدَّم من ذنبه
Mishkat al-Masabih 1958
. You all know and hear all of this, but listen now to something you rarely hear, and perhaps most of you have never had this hadith reach your ears, which I am about to place before you. It is his saying (peace and blessings be upon him). This hadith is among the most authentic hadiths, for it was narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim in their "Sahih"s from the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him). He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When the Imam says Amin, say Amin, for if anyone’s utterance of Amin synchronnises with that of the angles, he will be forgiven his past sins. إذا أمَّنَ الإمام فأمِّنوا ؛ فإنه مَن وافق تأمينُه تأمينَ الملائكة ؛ غُفِرَ له ما تقدَّم من ذنبه
Sunan Abi Dawud 936Sahih (Al-Albani)
. His past sins were forgiven. By what? By a very, very easy command, and a very, very, very difficult one for one who has become accustomed to disobedience. I just prayed Maghrib in this mosque, and now Isha. I barely finish my recitation of
And not those who go astray. وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ
before you preempt me with the "Ameen." Do you see, am I the imam, or are you?
