The Shaykh : I want to mention now an error that many of the praying people commit. This error involves, first, disobedience to the command of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and second, a great and very great loss, which is that the Muslim does not attain the forgiveness of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). We do not worship Allah through our prayers, standing in prayer, and fasting except to attain the forgiveness of our Lord (Blessed and Exalted is He). You know, for example, His saying (peace and blessings be upon him): Mishkat al-Masabih 1958 You all know and hear all of this, but listen now to something you rarely hear, and perhaps most of you have never even heard it. This is the hadith I am about to put in your ears. It is his saying (peace and blessings be upon him), and this hadith is among the most authentic hadiths, for it was narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim in their Sahihs from the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him). He said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sunan Abi Dawud 936Sahih (Al-Albani) Sunan an-Nasa'i 2194Sahih (Darussalam), with what? With a very, very easy command, and a very, very, very difficult one for those accustomed to disobedience. I just prayed Maghrib in this mosque, and now Isha. I barely finish my recitation of before you precede me with ‘Ameen.’ Do you see? Am I the imam or are you? Am I the one following or are you? You say ‘Ameen’ before me, people. I finish saying Allah: ‘Ameen.’ I want to take a breath because this is the position of the verse, and then the mosque— I do not say this about all mosques, but only a very few mosques in the entire world— the followers race the imam with ‘Ameen.’ His saying (peace and blessings be upon him) in this hadith: So there is no one reminding them of it, and no one forbidding it.
He who fasts during Ramadan with faith and seeking his reward from God will have his past sins forgiven; he who prays during the night in Ramadan with faith and seeking his reward from God will have his past sins forgiven
من صام رمضان إيمانا واحتسابا غفر له ما تقدم من ذنبه ومن قام رمضان إيمانا وإحتسابا غفر له ما تقدم من ذنبهWhen the Imam says Amin, say Amin, for if anyone’s utterance of Amin synchronnises with that of the angles, he will be forgiven his past sins.
إذا أمن الإمام فأمنوا فإنه من وافق تأمينه تأمين الملائكة غفر له ما تقدم من ذنبهhe will be forgiven his previous sins
غفر له ما تقدم من ذنبهnor those who go astray
ولا الضالينnor those who go astray
