From the lessons of "Al-Targhib wa al-Tarhib" by Al-Mundhiri, "Warning against begging and its prohibition in the state of wealth, and what has come regarding the condemnation of greed"

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and the worst of matters are their innovations, and every innovation is a religious innovation, and every religious innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Fire.
Our previous lesson from the book "Al-Targhib wa al-Tarhib" brought us to the twenty-seventh hadith in my copy, which is his statement (may Allah have mercy on him): "It was narrated from Fadalah ibn 'Ubayd that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say:
Blessed is the one who was guided to Islam, whose livelihood was sufficient, and who was content طوبى لِمَن هُدِيَ للإسلام ، وكان عيشه كفافًا وقَنَعَ
As-Sunan al-Kubra lil-Nasa'i 67:30
."
Blessed طوبى
: Blessed is he, or he has a tree in Paradise, so it is a glad tidings for him that he is among the people of Paradise. Who is he?
The one who was guided to Islam, whose livelihood was sufficient لِمَن هُدِيَ للإسلام ، وكان عيشه كفافًا
As-Sunan al-Kubra lil-Nasa'i 67:30
One whose provision is not restricted, nor expanded, and this is not in spite of him, but rather from contentment within himself, where he said:
his livelihood was sufficient and he was satisfied وكان عيشه كفافًا وقَنَعَ
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2349Hasan (Darussalam)
; meaning: He was pleased with what Allah (Mighty and Majestic) apportioned for him, as came in the authentic hadith:
be satisfied with what Allah has alloted for you and you shall be the richest of the people وارضَ بما قَسَمَ الله لك تكُنْ أغنى الناس
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2305Da'if (Darussalam)
, and similar to this hadith is the hadith following it, but the first hadith was narrated by al-Tirmidhi and he said: "A good, authentic hadith," and by al-Hakim, and he said: "Authentic according to the conditions of Muslim."
In this tracing of the hadith, there is some leniency or oversight in the tracing; that is because there was found among the narrators and those who traced it someone of a higher rank than the second tracer of this hadith, who is al-Hakim. He mentioned that the hadith was narrated by al-Tirmidhi and al-Hakim, whereas there is another tracer who is of a higher rank than al-Hakim and purer in narration than him; that is Ibn Hibban in his "Sahih." So his right, if he wanted to be concise in the tracing, was to say: "It was narrated by al-Tirmidhi and Ibn Hibban," if he wanted to be satisfied with two in the tracing, and if he added more, that is better. So he should have said: "It was narrated by al-Tirmidhi, Ibn Hibban, and al-Hakim." But this is something from which no person is safe; perhaps a tracer may be missed, so there is no harm in adding this third tracer, who is Ibn Hibban in his "Sahih," to the two tracers mentioned in the book.
