The Shaykh : As for the hadith that follows it, which carries the same meaning as the previous one, it is his statement: And from 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr - may Allah be pleased with them both - that the Messenger of Allah - peace and blessings be upon him - said:
He Is successful who has accepted Islam, who has been provided with sufficient for his want and been made contented by Allah with what He has given him. قد أفلح مَن أسلَمَ ، ورُزِقَ كفافًا ، وقنَّعه الله بما آتاه
Sahih Muslim 1054
, narrated by Muslim, al-Tirmidhi, and Ibn Majah.
He said in explaining "sufficient livelihood" (kaffaf): Kaffaf is that which has no excess beyond sufficiency. That is, the sufficient livelihood is what suffices its owner, neither falling short of his need nor exceeding it. This is the sufficient livelihood to which the Messenger - peace and blessings be upon him and his family - attributed to its owner that he was guided to Islam, and that he succeeded in the second hadith; this is the kaffaf.
