The Shaykh : The hadith that follows it is also authentic. He said: And from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) slept on a mat, and when he stood up, it had left a mark on his side. We said: "O Messenger of Allah, why don't we make a covering for you?" Meaning something from bedding to place under you to prevent the mark of the mat on your body, so that there is something soft under you. He said (may the prayers and peace of Allah be upon him): Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2377Hasan (Darussalam). In this hadith is an allusion that the one who is traveling in haste and stops under a tree does not establish or build under it; because he will depart soon. So the Messenger (may the prayers and peace of Allah be upon him), when he compared himself in this transient, perishing worldly life to the traveler who stops under the tree to take shelter with it, he will soon depart from it and leave it. In it is an exhortation that the Muslim should not be overly attached or cling to this worldly life and its debris, adornment, and beauty, except to the extent that it helps him to fulfill the right of worship of Allah (Mighty and Majestic), this worship for the sake of which we were created, as our Lord (Mighty and Majestic) said: [Adh-Dhariyat 51:56]. This hadith is also authentic. The author said in its tracing: It was narrated by Ibn Majah and al-Tirmidhi, and he said: "A good, authentic hadith." And al-Tabarani, with this long wording, and there is weakness in its chain; and therefore, based on the previous condition, I avoided it.
What do I have to do with the world! I am not in the world but as a rider seeking shade under a tree, then he catches his breath and leaves it.
ما لي وللدنيا ؟! ما أنا في الدنيا إلا كراكبٍ استظلَّ تحت شجرةٍ ثم راح وتركهاAnd I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.
وَمَا خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالْإِنْسَ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُونِ
