Guidance for One Who Performs Hajj on Behalf of Another

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
What is the ruling in the Shari'ah regarding a man who performs Hajj on behalf of his father? Is the sacrificial animal obligatory for him or not? If he does not find the sacrificial animal, does he fast? Is fasting for ten days sufficient in place of the sacrificial animal when one is unable to afford it? And if one is able to pay the price of the sacrifice, is it permissible for him to fast because he needs that money?

First: It is not appropriate to direct the question to a person with this wording: "What is the ruling in the Shari'ah?" ; because the one answering may err in his answer, and it would not be from the Shari'ah.And it is said: What is your opinion, or what do you see, or what is the ruling in the Shari'ah in your opinion, or in your view, or something similar to that.

And as for the answer to the issue: If his father is unable to perform Hajj due to an inability that is not expected to end, such as an old man or a sick person whose illness is not expected to be cured; then there is nothing wrong with performing Hajj on behalf of his father; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked by a woman who said: "O Messenger of Allah! My father has reached the age of old age and he is not able to sit on a mount, and the obligation of Allah upon His servants in Hajj has come upon him. Should I perform Hajj on his behalf?"He said: Yes) So he performs Hajj on his behalf.
Then, if the Hajj is tamattu' or qiran, the sacrificial animal is obligatory for him, and if the Hajj is ifrad, the sacrificial animal is not obligatory for him.And if he is unable to afford the sacrificial animal: Either because he does not have the money with him, or because he has money but he needs it for expenses, then he fasts three days during Hajj and seven days when he returns to his family.
