The questioner : Is it, O Shaykh, reported from the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
In the name of Allah, with Whose name nothing in the earth or in the sky can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing, three times; nothing will harm him on that day
Is this authentic?

The Shaykh: Correct.

The questioner : Okay, if I actually recite this dhikr daily in the morning and in the evening, and yet harm befalls me, for example from outside or something like that, how do we reconcile this?

The Shaykh : Like one who supplicates but is not answered.

The questioner : So, is this dhikr not always answered?

The Shaykh : Of course,
Indeed, Allah does not accept a supplication from a heedless, distracted heart
Al-Mustadrak lil-Hakim 18:14
, and then there are other conditions, as in “Sahih Muslim” from the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: ! Indeed, Allah is Pure and does not accept anything but what is pure, and Allah commanded the believers with what He commanded the messengers, saying: “O messengers, eat from the good things and do righteous deeds.” Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned the man who travels a long distance, disheveled and covered in dust, raising his hands and saying: “O Lord, O Lord,” while his food is haram, his drink is haram, his clothing is haram, and he is nourished with haram; so how will he be answered? Do you know these conditions? So let us fear Allah (Mighty and Majestic).
And peace be upon you.

The questioner: And upon you peace.
