Explanation of Riyad al-Salihin-76b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) said in his book Riyad al-Salihin, in what he quoted in the chapter on the dhikr of the morning and evening, in what he quoted from Uthman ibn 'Affan (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said:
There is no servant who says when he goes to bed and when he rises: "In the name of Allah, with Whose name nothing can cause harm on earth or in the heaven, and He is the All-Hearing," three times, except that Allah the Exalted will protect him from the evil of that day.
These are few words, but their benefit is great
Bismillahil-ladhi la yadurru ma'a ismihi shay'un fil-ardi wa la fis-sama'i wa Huwas-Sami'ul-'Alim
Sunan Ibn Majah 3869
because Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, holds the dominion of the heavens and the earth in His hand, and His name is blessed when mentioned over a thing. For this reason, it is prescribed to mention Allah the Exalted with the name when eating; if you intend to eat, you say: In the name of Allah. If you intend to drink, you say: In the name of Allah. If you intend to go to your wife, you say: In the name of Allah. So the mention of the name is prescribed in many places, but according to the stronger opinion, it is obligatory when eating and drinking. It is obligatory for a person, if he intends to eat, to say: In the name of Allah, and if he intends to drink, to say: In the name of Allah, due to the command of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) to do so, and because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) mentioned that whoever does not mention Allah over his food, Satan shares in it with him. So do not forget to say every morning and every evening: "In the name of Allah, with Whose name nothing can cause harm on earth or in the heaven, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing," three times. And His saying:
and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing
The All-Hearing is among the names of Allah, and the All-Knowing is among the names of Allah. So the All-Hearing is among the names of Allah the Exalted, and it has two meanings. The first is hearing, which is the perception of every sound, and nothing is hidden from Allah the Exalted; every sound, Allah hears it, no matter how far away or how weak it is. When Allah the Exalted revealed:
Certainly has Allah heard the speech of the one who argues with you, [O Muhammad], concerning her husband and directs her complaint to Allah. And Allah hears your dialogue; indeed, Allah is Hearing and Seeing.
[Al-Mujadila 58:1]
This is a woman who came to complain to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), saying that her husband had pronounced zihar against her, meaning he said to her: "You are to me as the back of my mother" This statement was considered in the pre-Islamic age of ignorance a final divorce, like the three divorces, and it is a lie and an abomination, as Allah the Exalted said:
And indeed, they are saying an objectionable statement and a falsehood.
[Al-Mujadila 58:2]
So she came to complain to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and Allah revealed this verse:
Certainly has Allah heard the speech of the one who argues with you, [O Muhammad], concerning her husband and directs her complaint to Allah
[Al-Mujadila 58:1]
Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "Praise be to Allah, Who has made His hearing encompass all sounds. And indeed, the disputing woman came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to speak to him, and I was in the chamber, and some of her conversation was hidden from me" And Allah the Exalted is above the seven heavens and hears her speech. So Allah the Exalted hears your speech even if it is hidden.
Or do they think that We hear not their secrets and their private conversations? Yes, [We do], and Our messengers are with them recording.
[Az-Zukhruf 43:80]
So beware of letting Allah, Mighty and Majestic, hear from you any speech that He does not approve of, and strive to let Allah hear from you what He approves of. And among the meanings of the All-Hearing is that He is the One who hears supplication, meaning the One who answers supplication, as Ibrahim (peace be upon him) said:
Indeed, my Lord is the Hearer of supplication.
[Ibrahim 14:39]
Meaning the One who answers it. So He, Exalted and Majestic is He, answers supplication. He answers the supplication of the distressed, even if he is a disbeliever. For this reason, Allah the Exalted answers the supplication of the distressed in the sea:
when waves come over them like canopies, they supplicate Allah, sincere to Him in religion
[Luqman 31:32]
and He saves them. And He, Exalted and Majestic is He, answers the supplication of the oppressed. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Beware of the supplication of the oppressed for there is no barrier between him and Allah.
Sahih Muslim 19a
And He, Glorified and Exalted is He, answers the one who worships Him, praises Him, and extols Him, as the one praying says: "Allah hears the one who praises Him" And as for the All-Knowing, it is also among His names. And the knowledge of Allah the Exalted is vast knowledge encompassing everything. Allah the Exalted said:
And with Him are the keys of the unseen; none knows them except Him. And He knows what is on the land and in the sea. Not a leaf falls but that He knows it. And no grain is there within the darknesses of the earth and no moist or dry [thing] but that it is [written] in a clear record.
[Al-An'am 6:59]
He knows what is in the wombs, and He is the opener of the unseen. Five things are mentioned in His saying, the Exalted:
Indeed, Allah [alone] has knowledge of the Hour and sends down the rain and knows what is in the wombs. And no soul perceives what it will earn tomorrow, and no soul perceives in what land it will die
[Luqman 31:34]
So Allah, Mighty and Majestic, has the keys of the unseen. No leaf falls from a tree but He knows it. If a leaf falls from a tree in the farthest wilderness, even if it is a small leaf, Allah knows it. And if He knows what falls, then He, Exalted and Majestic is He, knows what happens that He creates. So Allah is All-Knowing of every thing.
