One who performed Hajj on behalf of a young girl and did not perform the Farewell Tawaf
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
I performed Hajj on behalf of a nursing infant, but I did not perform the Farewell Tawaf for her. What is the ruling in this matter?
You owe nothing. Regarding the young children, accept from them what they perform of the rites, and do not demand from them what they leave out. However, I advise you and our brothers not to take young children on Hajj during these seasons; because that causes hardship for them and their children, involving fatigue and difficulty. Taking them on Hajj is not obligatory. The most that can be said is that they receive a reward for it. But this reward they obtain might be lost to them, and they might miss out on more reward by completing their own rites than they gained from taking this boy on Hajj. A person should be discerning regarding the Shari'ah before he acts. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not order the Companions to take their children on Hajj. And the most that was narrated from him: (A woman brought up her young boy and said: Does he have a Hajj? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes, and you have a reward). If we take these young children on Hajj, we will miss many recommended practices in our worship, which is the reason we came. So leaving them behind is better than taking them on Hajj.
