Q: I inform you that I performed the obligatory Hajj for the year 1411 AH
and I performed all the rites of Hajj completely, except that on the third day I attempted to perform the farewell tawaf, but I was struck by a severe illness and was unable to perform the farewell tawaf, and I left Makkah on that same third day. I request your eminence to issue a fatwa to me on this matter: is there any deficiency in my Hajj, what should I do, and is there an expiation for this? Please inform me, may Allah reward you with every good, and may Allah preserve you.
A : If the situation is as you described, that you left without performing the farewell tawaf, then it is obligatory for you to pay a fidyah (ransom payment) by slaughtering an animal in Makkah and distributing it to the poor of the Haram. If you are unable to do so, then you must fast for ten days. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
