Allah the Exalted said:

And what can make you know what is the steep path?

وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْعَقَبَةُ

[Al-Balad: 12] This interrogative is also for excitement and magnification,Meaning: what is it that will inform you about the matter of this difficult path about which Allah said:

But he has not broken through the difficult pass.

فَلا اقْتَحَمَ الْعَقَبَةَ

[Al-Balad: 11] ?Allah explained it by His saying:

⁽¹³⁾ It is the freeing of a slave ⁽¹⁴⁾ Or feeding on a day of severe hunger ⁽¹⁵⁾ An orphan of near relationship ⁽¹⁶⁾ Or a needy person in misery ⁽¹⁷⁾ And then being among those who believed

فَكُّ رَقَبَةٍ * أَوْ إِطْعَامٌ فِي يَوْمٍ ذِي مَسْغَبَةٍ * يَتِيماً ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ * أَوْ مِسْكِيناً ذَا مَتْرَبَةٍ * ثُمَّ كَانَ مِنْ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا

[Al-Balad: 16-17] etc.
