Breaking the fast for one who is fasting to make up an obligatory fast or a vow

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
If a person is fasting to make up Ramadan, is it permissible for him to break his fast whenever he wishes?
No. If a person begins an obligatory fast, whether it is making up Ramadan, an expiation for an oath, or a vow, it is not permissible for him to stop except out of dire necessity. As for voluntary fasts, there is nothing wrong with a person breaking his fast during the day without an excuse.

The questioner: What if he breaks his fast in a way that incurs an expiation, in Ramadan or while making up a fast from Ramadan? The Shaykh: The expiation is not obligatory except for one who has intercourse during the day in Ramadan while fasting, and he must also fast. If he has intercourse while not fasting due to an excuse, such as being sick or traveling, there is no blame on him and no sin, provided his wife is also excused like him.

The questioner: What is required of him regarding making up the fast? The Shaykh: I told you: It is obligatory for him to repent to Allah and seek His forgiveness, because he did something forbidden, and he must make up the day he invalidated.
