If a person is fasting to make up for Ramadan, is it permissible for him to break his fast whenever he wishes?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Shaykh, if a person is fasting to make up for Ramadan.

The Shaykh : What?

The questioner : If a person is fasting to make up for Ramadan, is it permissible for him to break his fast whenever he wishes?

The Shaykh : Is it?

The questioner : Is it permissible for him to break his fast whenever he wishes?

The Shaykh : No. If a person begins fasting an obligatory fast, whether it is making up for Ramadan, an expiation for an oath, or a vow, it is not permissible for him to stop except out of dire necessity. As for voluntary fasting, there is no harm in a person breaking his fast during the day without an excuse.

The questioner : And if he breaks his fast by doing something that requires an expiation in Ramadan while making up for Ramadan?

The Shaykh : Then the expiation is not obligatory on him. The expiation is only obligatory on one who has intercourse during the day of Ramadan while he is fasting and fasting is obligatory on him. If he has intercourse while he is not fasting due to an excuse, such as being sick or traveling, there is no blame on him and no sin, if his wife is also excused like him. Yes.

The questioner : What is required of him regarding making up this day?The Shaykh : I told you: It is obligatory for him to repent to Allah and seek His forgiveness, because he did something forbidden. And he must make up this day that he invalidated. Yes, please.
