Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: (Indeed, he has succeeded who purifies it)]

Allah the Exalted said:
He who purifies it has succeeded, * and he who defiles it has failedقَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَنْ زَكَّاهَا * وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنْ دَسَّاهَا
[Surah al-Shams: 9-10] (Indeed, he has succeeded) means: he attained what was sought and was saved from what was feared. (Who purifies it) means: who purifies his soul. The purification intended here is not the purification prohibited in His saying:
So do not claim yourselves to be pureفَلا تُزَكُّوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ
[Surah al-Najm: 32] The purification intended here is that one purifies his soul through sincerity, free from shirk (associating partners with Allah) and the impurities of sins, so that it remains pure, clean, and spotless.
