The ruling on the 'Aqiqah for a child who died before his seventh day

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
If the child dies after his birth, is the 'Aqiqah performed for him?
If the child dies at the moment of his birth, the 'Aqiqah is performed for him on the seventh day. This is because when the soul is breathed into the child, he will be resurrected on the Day of Resurrection. One of the benefits of the 'Aqiqah is that the child intercedes for his parents. And some scholars said: If he dies before the seventh day, the 'Aqiqah is dropped. This is because the 'Aqiqah is prescribed on the seventh day for one who is alive. As for if he dies before the seventh day, it is dropped. If Allah has made things easy for a person and he is in a position to do so, it is better for him to slaughter it. If he is not in that position, there is no need for him to do so.

The questioner: And is he named?Answer: He is named when he is born after the soul has been breathed into him, and that is when he has completed four months.
