If a newborn dies on the day of his birth, is there an 'aqiqah for him?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa number ( 1684 )
Q1: A child was born to a man at six months of gestation; he came out of his mother alive and died on the day of his birth. Is there a 'aqiqah for him or not?
A1: If the matter is as you described, that the child came out of his mother alive at six months of gestation, then it is recommended to slaughter an 'aqiqah for him, even if he died after his birth. This is done on the seventh day of his birth, and he is to be given a name. This is based on what was narrated by Ahmad and al-Bukhari and the authors of the Sunan, from Salman ibn 'Amir , from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said:
For a boy there should be an ‘Aqiqah, so shed blood for him and remove the harm from him.مع الغلام عقيقة، فأهريقوا عنه دمًا، وأميطوا عنه الأذى
Sunan Ibn Majah 3164Sahih (Darussalam)
, and what was narrated by al-Hasan from Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
A boy is in pledge for his Aqiqah. Sacrifice is made for him on the seventh day, his head is shavedكل غلام رهينة بعقيقته تذبح عنه يوم السابع، ويحلق، ويسمى
Sunan Abi Dawud 2837
Narrated by Ahmad
And the authors of the Sunan, and al-Tirmidhi graded it as authentic. The 'Aqiqah is two sheep for a boy, and one sheep for a girl; based on what was narrated by 'Amr ibn Shu'ayb, from his father, from his grandfather, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever among you wishes to offer a sacrifice for his child, let him do so. For a boy, two matching sheep, and for a girl, one sheep.من أحب منكم أن ينسك عن ولده فليفعل، عن الغلام شاتان مكافئتان، وعن الجارية شاة
, narrated by Ahmad, Abu Dawud, and al-Nasa'i with a good chain. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
