The Ruling on Using Connections for Jobs

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
What is the ruling on what people call "connections"? You probably know what it means: it is intercession.

First: In my opinion, (90%) of what is commonly known as using connections is at the expense of others,Meaning: delaying those who are more deserving and advancing those who are less deserving. Moreover, it is widespread among people; Some people make it difficult by saying: everyone does what they can, and since everyone does it, I will do what I can. So what is its ruling—may Allah preserve you—and what do you advise people regarding it?
Seeking intercession for a person to obtain a job or something else, if there is someone more deserving who has already applied for the position, and one knows that by using a connection or intercessor, this person will be advanced over the one who is more deserving, then this is not permissible. This is because it resembles selling a Muslim over his brother, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade that.
However, if the matter has been reserved by the officials, and they cannot employ anyone, even if he is deserving, because they want to advance those they favor for one reason or another, then he has the right to apply through a connection.
