Exegesis of His saying, the Exalted: (From the evil of the whisperer who retreats)

Allah the Exalted said:
(4) From the evil of the retreating whisperer - (5) Who whispers [evil] into the breasts of mankind - (6) From among the jinn and mankind."مِنْ شَرِّ الْوَسْوَاسِ الْخَنَّاسِ * الَّذِي يُوَسْوِسُ فِي صُدُورِ النَّاسِ * مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَالنَّاسِ
[Al-Nas: 4-6] The scholars said regarding al-waswas: it is a verbal noun intended to mean the active participle,Meaning: al-muswis,And al-waswasah: which is what is cast into the heart of thoughts, illusions, and imaginations that have no reality. (Al-khannas) is the one who retreats, flees, turns away, and departs when Allah the Mighty and Majestic is mentioned, and he is Shaytan. For this reason, when the mu'adhdhin calls the adhan, Shaytan turns away and flees, and he passes wind due to the intensity of the distress he feels. So when the adhan ends, he returns—may Allah grant us safety. For this reason, it came in the athar: [When the ghouls grow fierce, hasten with the adhan].

And al-ghilalan: They are the jinn that imagine things to the traveler in his journey, as if they were terrifying things or an enemy or the like. So when the person says the takbir, they turn away.So His saying, the Mighty and Majestic: (Al-khannas) means: the one who retreats,Meaning: turns away, departs, turns his back, and becomes humbled before the mention of Allah the Mighty and Majestic.
