Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :
(3) The God of mankind, (4) From the evil of the retreating whisperer - (5) Who whispers [evil] into the breasts of mankind - (6) From among the jinn and mankind." ملك الناس إله الناس من شر الوسواس الخناس الذي يوسوس في صدور الناس من الجنة والناس
[An-Nas 114:3-6]
Am I asking now whether al-waswas is an attribute or a verbal noun? Please proceed.
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : A verbal noun? Hmm? A verbal noun. Rest. Stand up. What did I say? Is it a verbal noun or an attribute? He said the brother is a verbal noun. And what remains?
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : So, did you answer regarding knowledge? Did you answer regarding the classification? Did you answer regarding knowledge? Explain to me how it was an attribute?
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : "Taswis" is a mistake; no scholar says it. Waswas, yawsus, taswis. Okay, wait, my brother, the discussion is still ongoing.
From the evil of the retreating whisperer - من شر الوسواس الخناس
[An-Nas 114:4]
This second word indicates that al-waswas is an attribute, not a verbal noun, because the verbal noun, which is the action, cannot be "khannas." Rest.
Okay, al-waswas means that Satan whispers in the breasts of people, and he casts doubts in their breasts, and he casts desires in their breasts. Listen, my brother.
I say that al-waswas is Satan casting in the breasts of people what? Doubts, and he casts in their hearts desires. So, through the doubts, a person denies the news and doubts it. Therefore, Satan comes to a person and makes him doubt the Hereafter. Satan comes to a person and whispers in his breast regarding a matter concerning Allah, the Lord of the worlds.
Concerning Allah, until a person comes and says, "Who created such-and-such?" He says, "Allah created it." Who created the sky? Answer. Who created the earth? Who created the air? Who created the sun? Who created the moon? Allah.
Satan says, "Okay, we know this, but who created Allah?" Satan comes to him and says, "Who created Allah?" What do we do? What do we say? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), to whom Allah gave the medicine for hearts, souls, and bodies, taught us what to do? He said:
Let him seek refuge in Allah and let him stop. فليستعذ بالله ولينته
And let him turn away. So he commanded us with two medicines: a medicine we have no power over, and a medicine we have power over. What is the medicine we have no power over? Satan. Satan. We cannot repel him from ourselves. Therefore, he said:
Let him seek refuge in Allah. فليستعذ بالله
.
The second medicine: we are able to do it. What is it?
And let him turn away. ولينته
And let him turn away. And the meaning of His saying
Turn away. ينته
is that he turns away from this whisper and does not pay attention to it, for it will not harm him. So, if Satan comes to you and whispers to you, saying for example, "Who created Allah," and he says to you, "Allah the Exalted, what is He?" Then you must say, "The brother?" Yes, that you seek refuge in Allah. This is one, and the second is that it ends; you turn away from this, you turn to your works, and you do not mind this. This is a great whisper. Is this from the doubts or from the desires? From the doubts.
