The ruling on leaving a recommended practice out of fear of harming people
The tawruk in prayer, as regards the ma'mum, if he is bothering the person next to him,Which is better: should he perform the tawruk, or should he leave it? Because many people cannot perform the tawruk unless they lean on the person next to them?
The tawruk in prayer is known; it is to straighten the right hand and extend the left hand from the right side and perform the tawruk,Meaning: which is that you place your hip on the ground, and this requires a person to spread out a little, and perhaps the row is narrow and the people are crowded in it, so he harms the person next to him.
So here two things have come together for us: Performing a recommended practice.
And repelling harm from a Muslim.
So which is more important: Performing the recommended practice, or repelling the harm? Repelling the harm; because harming a believer is not a light matter, harming a believer even with words, let alone with the action that occurs in prayer and disturbs his prayer, harming a believer is by word or by action,Allah the Mighty and Majestic says about it: [Al-Ahzab: 58] .
And he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him not harm his neighbor) .
And he came out once to his Companions while they were in the mosque praying and reciting loudly,So he said: (Each of you is conversing with his Lord, so let none of you harm another in his recitation) , where is the harm? The harm is that if you raise your voice, you disturb those around you and you harm them.
And from this we know that some of the brothers who pray with the microphone that is heard from the minaret and disturbs the mosques around them are not on the right path, and that if they are not sinners, they are not gaining anything, for there is no benefit in raising the voice on the minaret, what is the benefit of it? Is there any benefit? No, there is no benefit, it is an invitation to laziness;Because some of the people who are in the houses say: just now he prayed, just now he started, I will wait until when one rak'ah remains I will go.
Then perhaps he will go when one rak'ah remains, and he will not catch it, so it is an invitation to laziness.
And in it -also- is harm to the neighbors, for perhaps some people are sick or anxious all night, so when the adhan for Fajr is called, he prays Fajr and then sleeps to rest, so this loud voice comes and disturbs him and he does not sleep, so this is harm.
And the other mosques are also harmed! It reached us that some people, when the mosque next to them said the takbir, they followed him, and this is a neglect of following their imam, what is the cause of it? The cause is this microphone that is heard from the minaret.
And it reached me from some people that he said: We have a mosque near us, the recitation of its imam is good, a fine performance, and a beautiful voice, and our imam is one of the people whose state is average, so when the imam next to us recited, I would follow him, and I would listen to his recitation, and I would leave our imam to wander.
So this is a great harm.
And I am always thinking and saying: What is the result that we obtain from behind this? And even if it is assumed that there is a benefit, it is counterbalanced by the harm, and the Messenger said to his Companions addressing them; addressing the best of the generations and the best of the generations,He said: (Let none of you harm another) so he made it harm, and the Messenger spoke the truth, it is indeed harm.
So this rule, pay attention to it: Leaving the recommended practice to repel harm is better than performing the recommended practice with harm, so this one who performs the tawruk, if by his tawruk he harms his neighbor, he should not perform the tawruk, and if Allah knows from his intention that were it not for this he would have performed the tawruk, then Allah the Exalted will reward him; because he will be like the one about whom the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (Whoever falls ill or travels, it is written for him what he used to do while healthy and resident) .
The questioner: Some of them turn on the microphone so that whoever wants to say the taslim can say the taslim! The Shaykh: Say the taslim, are we in a land of disbelief? The questioner: Or that he will be guided.
The Shaykh: This is if he wants to be guided, and we have never heard of anyone who was guided by this ever.
Interjection: And perhaps it is mixed with showing off! The Shaykh: And as for showing off, Allah knows best! If the imam's intention is showing off, then that is another matter.
