The ruling on one who leaves a sin out of shyness of people rather than fear of Allah
O honorable Shaykh! A Muslim man is prevented from committing a sin only by his shyness of people, not by hope in what is with Allah or fear of His punishment?
This person has no reward,Meaning: he has no reward at all; but will he be sinful? This is a matter of hesitation.

It may be said: He is sinful; because he drew near to the created beings through obedience to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) or by leaving His disobedience,And it may be said: He is not sinful; because Allah (Mighty and Majestic) legislated the limits and punishments as a deterrent for the disobedient, and it is known that the disobedient one may be prevented from sin by fear of these punishments, without having the fear of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) on his mind.

In any case: We call upon such a man to make his intention sincere for Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and that his obedience be a drawing near to Allah, and his leaving of sin be out of fear of Allah.
