The ruling on performing an act for the matters that follow from it
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The question, may Allah preserve you, is related to the question of the brother regarding what the Shaykh al-Islam (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned. He said: If a person performs a righteous deed and intends to thank the people or something of the purpose of this world, then the reward is diminished.
There are some hadiths in which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) encouraged working and mentioned an incentive in that, such as what reward there is in this world or what follows from that. For example, his saying (peace and blessings be upon him): (Whoever loves to be expanded for him in his provision and lengthened for him in his lifespan, let him maintain the ties of kinship) How much incentive is in this hadith? For example, if one seeks this or has an interest in this aspect, what is the answer?
This issue, may Allah bless you, is not the same as the issue mentioned by the previous questioner, who mentioned wanting to draw near to people through their praise of him. As for this, he wants to benefit himself; because expanding provision may be a cause for good, charity, and benefiting the Muslims, and lengthening life is also a cause for increasing righteous deeds, and perhaps he will be a scholar who benefits people with his knowledge. So it is good. Otherwise, there is no doubt that what the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) mentions of immediate reward is intended to encourage, but he does not intend for the person's purpose in this deed to be the immediate reward. The difference is between there being something that encourages a person to do good which is not for anyone but Allah, and one who wants this to become a means for something else.
