The questioner : There is a question, O Shaykh. Actually, there are two questions... Actually, I heard from one of the Muslim thinkers.

The Shaykh : One.

The questioner : Of the thinkers.

The Shaykh : Of the thinkers.

The questioner : One of the Muslim thinkers has two views on two issues that I found strange. The first view is on the issue of infallibility, the infallibility of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), in that he says that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) is not infallible from making a mistake in the matter of conveying the message, because it is possible.

The Shaykh : The matter of what?

The questioner : Conveying, conveying the message.

The Shaykh : Conveying.

The questioner : Yes, meaning that he may make a mistake, but his mistake is corrected; he is not left in his mistake. And he said that infallibility, as a word and linguistic term, is an innovation that did not exist, but was created by the debate between Muslims and their opponents when the need for it arose. Therefore, he said it is better not to say "infallible" but rather to say "protected," because it is not praise for the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) to say he is "infallible," but rather by his effort he became protected, or Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) protected him from these pitfalls of falling into these mistakes. So I found this view strange. The second view is the question he raised, which is rejecting the established Prophetic hadith if it is related to worldly matters, such as the hadith of the fly in Muslim. And he said the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) was not a doctor, and he applied this issue to the issue of conveying to people. He said, so the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), since he was not a doctor, this is among worldly matters. If a disbelieving doctor says an opinion that contradicts this hadith, I will take the opinion of the disbelieving doctor and leave the hadith, even if it is established. These two issues... answer them with a brief answer. May Allah bless you.

The Shaykh : Be assured of all good. In response to your statement that you heard from some thinkers, my belief is that I have not heard from any of the thinkers except that they are Western non-Muslims, or they are Muslims but not from the scholars of the Muslims. The one who mentioned that the word "infallibility" and distinguished it from the Messenger being "protected," meaning he protected himself, and you mentioned in what you mentioned at the beginning of your speech that, and I think, or at least I hope, that you are mistaken in what you attributed to him, where you attributed to him that he is not infallible in conveying the message. Did you not say it this way?

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : So you are insisting on this?

The questioner : Yes, he said this.

The Shaykh : Are you sure?

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh: All right.
