Exegesis of His saying, the Exalted: (As if they, on the day they see it)

Allah the Exalted said:
It will be, on the Day they see it, as though they had not remained [in the world] except for an afternoon or a morning thereof.كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَهَا لَمْ يَلْبَثُوا إِلَاّ عَشِيَّةً أَوْ ضُحَاهَا
[Surat al-Naziat: 46] The evening: from the sun's zenith to its setting,And the forenoon: from the sun's rising to its zenith,Meaning: as if they had not stayed except half a day, and this is the reality,If you were to ask now: how has the passage of years been for us? Do we feel now that they are years, or as if it were a single day? It is as if it were a single day, without doubt,And the person now is between three things: a day that has passed, so it is gone, and a future day of which one does not know whether he will reach it or not, and a present time, which is what he is being asked about. As for what has passed, it is gone and lost from you, and the future, you do not know whether you will reach it or not, and the present is what you are being held accountable for.
I ask Allah the Exalted to make my and your outcome good, and to make our ending praiseworthy and our conclusion happy. Indeed, He is Generous and Bountiful. And all praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions, and those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.
