A man afflicted with hair loss; his hair has all fallen out due to illness, so he now wears what they call a wig. What is the ruling on this for the man and for the woman? Is that considered joining hair?

The questioner : The last point in this issue is a man who was afflicted with the loss of all his hair; all his hair fell out due to illness.

The Shaykh : His hair fell out.

The questioner : Yes, so he now wears what they call a wig. What is the ruling on this for the man and for the woman? Is that considered joining hair?

The Shaykh : Without a doubt, this is the strongest form of joining hair found to this day. It is not permissible, because the hadith is explicit that a woman got married and the hair on her head fell out, so her mother came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked him about joining her hair. He (peace be upon him) said:
May Allah curse the one who joins hair لَعَنَ الله الواصلةَ
, and she is more entitled to adornment, as we said earlier. So it is not permissible, it is not permissible, never.
