Exegesis of His saying, the Exalted: (As for he who is self-sufficient)

Then Allah the Exalted said:
(5) As for he who thinks himself without need, (6) To him you give attention. (7) And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified.
[Abasa:5-7] .
As for he who thinks himself without need,
['Abasa 80:5]
Meaning: He was self-sufficient by his wealth due to its abundance, and self-sufficient by his status due to its strength,
To him you give attention.
[Abasa:6] Meaning: You turn toward him, seeking his attention and facing him:
And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified.
[Abasa:7] Meaning: There is nothing upon you if this self-sufficient person does not purify himself; for your duty is only to convey the message. Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, made it clear that Ibn Umm Maktum (may Allah be pleased with him) is closer to purification than these great men,Allah the Exalted said:
But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified
[Abasa:3] and that if these people do not purify themselves, despite the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) turning toward them, then there is nothing upon you regarding them.

Allah the Exalted said:
And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified.
[Abasa:7] Meaning: There is nothing upon you if he does not purify himself; for his sin is upon him, and your duty is only to convey the message.

Then Allah the Exalted said:
(8) But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] (9) While he fears [Allah], (10) From him you are distracted.
[Abasa:8-10] And this is the counterpart to His saying:
As for him who is self-sufficient, you stand in his way.
[Abasa:5-6] .
