Exegesis of His saying, the Exalted: (In honored tablets)
Allah the Exalted said: [Abasa: 13-16] Meaning: This remembrance contained in these verses is in honored tablets, exalted in the sight of Allah. "Al-Sahf" is the plural of "sahifah," and "sahifah" is the singular of "sahif," which is that in which speech is written. These tablets are in the hands of the safirun, who are the angels. They are called safirun because they are scribes, a term derived from "al-sifr," which is the book.because of His saying, the Exalted: [Al-Jumu'ah: 5] It is also said that the safirun are the intermediaries between Allah and His creation, from "al-safir," which is the intermediary between people. And from this is the hadith of Abu Rafi' (may Allah be pleased with him): (That the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) married Maimunah before entering the state of ihram,He said: and I was the intermediary between them) Meaning: the intermediary.
The important point is that the safirun are the angels; they are called safirun because they are scribes who write, and they are called safirun also because they are envoys between Allah and the creation. Thus, Jibril (peace be upon him) is the intermediary between Allah and the creation in the descent of the revelation, and the scribes who write down what a person does and convey it to Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and Allah the Exalted is aware of it at the time of its writing and before its writing.
Allah the Exalted said:
(13) [It is recorded] in honored sheets, (14) Exalted and purified, (15) [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, (16) Noble and dutiful.
