How does a person know that Allah has chosen for him the matter for which he sought guidance?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah reward you well, O honorable Shaykh. How does a person know, after praying the prayer for guidance, that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has chosen this matter for him or has not chosen it for him?

The Shaykh : Yes, if a person hesitates about doing something or not doing it, it is prescribed for him to seek guidance from Allah (Mighty and Majestic). He prays two rak'ahs, and when he concludes the prayer, he recites the known supplication for guidance. Then, if he feels inclined toward one of the options, that is a sign that Allah has chosen that for him. If he does not feel inclined and remains hesitant, he repeats the prayer for guidance, once after another, then seeks the advice of others, and then proceeds with what he proceeds with. If he proceeds with it with sincerity in his supplication and trust in his Lord (Mighty and Majestic), then we know that what has been decreed for him and what he has proceeded with is the good.
