Issue: Is it permissible for a person, when a guest arrives, to purchase the guest's hospitality from zakah?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Now, is it permissible for a person, when a guest arrives, to purchase the guest's hospitality from zakah? Listen, my son: a guest arrived at the home of a man who had fifty riyals of zakah, and he said, "I will buy food for this guest with the fifty riyals of zakah and feed him." Is this permissible or not?

The questioner : No.

The Shaykh : Why? Because it saves his money. For honoring a guest is obligatory upon him. So if he spends his zakah on honoring the guest, that means he is saving his own money from the zakah.
