[The ruling on writing (ص) and (صلعم) instead of may Allah peace and blessings be upon him]
Noble Shaykh, we find that some students, or most of them, write (ص) or صلعم, or we find that in some books when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) is mentioned.

The Shaykh: After saying (peace and blessings be upon him), they say: (صلعم) or (ص).

The questioner: Yes, they say (صلعم) or (ص). Likewise, they write the letter 'ayn for (may Allah be pleased with him), such as for 'Ali ibn Abi Talib.

The Shaykh: No.
'Ali ibn Abi Talib is not (may Allah be pleased with him).

The questioner: (May Allah honor his face).

The Shaykh: They write the letter 'ayn as a symbol for (peace be upon him).

The questioner: Or likewise, (May Allah honor his face) in the case of 'Ali ibn Abi Talib.

The Shaykh: In any case, it is not befitting for a person, when mentioning the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), to write (ص) or (صلعم). The scholars of terminology disliked doing that. And they said: One should either write may Allah peace and blessings be upon him, or leave it out and write nothing, leaving the salutation to the reader or the listener. As for indicating peace be upon him with the eye, this is less severe than indicating may Allah peace and blessings be upon him with the letter Sad. Also, regarding Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him), if you say: Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), that is better than saying: peace be upon him, and better than saying: may Allah honor his face, because being pleased with a servant is the highest of ranks and the best thing for a person. For this reason, Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said to the people of Paradise: What do you want? When they mention the blessings of Allah upon them, He says: (My satisfaction has come upon you, so I will not be angry with you after that, ever). So, Allah's satisfaction with the servant is the great goal. But the Rafidah, out of ignorance, came to say to 'Ali: (Peace be upon him), or (May Allah honor his face).

The questioner: And the students, regarding dictation? The Shaykh: The students are told: Write (peace and blessings be upon him). And it is also better to write (peace and blessings be upon him and his family); because when the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) was asked: (Teach us how to send blessings upon you?He said: Say: O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad, and upon the family of Muhammad).
