[The Ruling on Calling the Christians (al-Nasara) "Christians"]
Your Eminence! May Allah reward you! The word "Christian" comes to the tongues of some Muslims, to the extent that they do not distinguish between the words "Nasrani" (Christian) and "Masihi" (Christian),Even in the media now they say about the Christians: Christians,So instead of saying: this is a Nasrani,They say: this is a Masihi, so we ask for clarification regarding this word "Christianity," and is it true that it is applied to what the Christians follow today?
We see that we should call the Christians (al-Nasara) "al-Nasara," as Allah the Mighty and Majestic named them, and as is known in the books of the previous scholars,They used to call them: the Jews and the Christians; but when the Christian nation became strong due to the negligence of the Muslims, they named themselves "Christians" to give their religion a legal color, even if only in terms of terminology. Otherwise, I am certain that the Messiah, 'Isa ibn Maryam, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), is innocent of them,And he will say on the Day of Resurrection if Allah asks him:
did you say to the people, 'Take me and my mother as deities besides Allah?'
[Al-Ma'idah: 116] He will say:
Glory be to You! It is not for me to say what I have no right to. If I said it, You know what is in my soul, and I do not know what is in Your soul. You, You are the Knower of the Unseen. I did not say to them except what You commanded me: "Worship Allah, my Lord and your Lord."
[Al-Ma'idah: 116-117] to the end of the verse.
He will say this regarding the oneness of Allah.

And if he is asked about the message, he will say: O my Lord! I said to them:
O children of Israel, indeed I am the messenger of Allah to you confirming what came before me of the Torah and bringing good tidings of a messenger to come after me, whose name is Ahmad.
[Al-Saff: 6], so he affirmed the messengers before him, and the message after him (peace and blessings be upon him).
So he commanded his nation with the substance of the testimony that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; but his nation disbelieved in his good news, and disbelieved in what he brought of the oneness of Allah,So they said:
Allah is the third of threeإِنَّ اللَّهَ ثَالِثُ ثَلاثَةٍ
[Al-Ma'idah: 73].

And they said:
The Messiah is the son of Allah
[At-Tawbah: 30].

And they said:
that Allah is Christ, the son of Maryإِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الْمَسِيحُ ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ
[Al-Ma'idah: 17] We ask Allah for safety.

The result: I say: that the Messiah, 'Isa ibn Maryam, is innocent of them, and of the religion they are upon today, and 'Isa ibn Maryam obliges them, by virtue of his message from Allah, to believe in Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him); so that they may be servants of Allah,Allah the Exalted said:
Say, "O People of the Scripture, come to a word that is equitable between us and you - that we will not worship except Allah and not associate anything with Him and not take one another as lords instead of Allah." But if they turn away, then say, "Bear witness that we are Muslims [submitting to Him]."
[Al-Imran: 64].
