The Shaykh’s (may Allah have mercy on him) advice to one of the women afflicted with intrusive thoughts to maintain the dhikr found in the book *Sahih al-Kalim al-Tayyib*.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : Peace be upon you.

The Shaykh: And upon you peace.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : ... And why are you living alone?

The questioner: I am with my husband and my children ... .

The Shaykh : Yes, how old are you?

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : You are not young, what books do you have on dhikr and daily recitations? What do you have?

The questioner: I have ... .

The Shaykh : You do not have my booklet *Sahih al-Kalim al-Tayyib*.

The questioner: No, no.

The Shaykh : Okay, do you use the dhikr found in this booklet for every occasion?

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : What is it?

The questioner: Yes, these are the dhikr.

The Shaykh : Answer my question, may Allah guide you. My question is: do you read the dhikr mentioned in the booklet *Sahih al-Kalim al-Tayyib*, each dhikr in its prescribed place? Do you do that?

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh: All right.

The questioner: ...

The Shaykh : Yes, that is an example, but I am asking you, may Allah guide you, are you using all these dhikr?

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : Everything that is in the book, you must read it in the occasion for which the dhikr is prescribed.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : Yes, yes, especially when you go to sleep, when you wake up, when you enter the bathroom, when you leave the bathroom, when you leave the house, when you enter the market. These are all things that, in general, protect the Muslim from the whispers of the Shayatins.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : Yes, this is the cure. Listen ... it is a cure, so apply it. Do not be like the patient who takes the prescription from the doctor and puts it on the shelf, remaining sick.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : Read Ayat al-Kursi, it is beautiful.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : And the important thing is that when you go to sleep, you read Ayat al-Kursi, and you read Surat al-Kafirun, Surat al-Ikhlas, Surat al-Falaq, and Surat al-Nas. That is, all the dhikr found in *Sahih al-Kalim*, and they are all authentic. As for the dhikr of al-Nawawi, first they are lengthy, and then they contain things that are not authentic, which confuses the Muslim’s mind due to their quantity. But this booklet *Sahih al-Kalim* is concise, beneficial, and authentic.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh: Certainly.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : No, no, you do not think about the matter, just remember Allah, because Allah says:
Unquestionably, by the remembrance of Allah hearts are assured." أَلَا بِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ الْقُلُوبُ
[Ar-Ra'd 13:28]
.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : That is enough, that is enough, you do not pay attention to the intrusive thoughts; because this Shaytan tries to mislead the person. And now I will conclude with a hadith with you, a Prophetic hadith. They came to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and said to him:
O Messenger of Allah, indeed we find in ourselves what is too great for any of us to speak about. يا رسول الله ، إنَّا لَنجد في أنفسنا ما يعظم على أحدنا أن يتحدَّث به
; do you understand this statement?

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : I am asking you, did you understand the statement?

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : By Allah ... I see that you are tired, so allow me, time is short, you can ask on another night.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : Understand what I am telling you. I mentioned a part of the hadith and asked you if you understand this statement. You did not answer me; you kept talking about yourself. I want to say a word from the hadith and be assured that you understood it so that I can complete the hadith for you. But if you do not understand the beginning, you will not understand the end. Did you pay attention to me now? When I ask you, answer me. Now I will tell you: some of the Companions of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) came and said to him:
O Messenger of Allah, indeed one of us finds in himself what he is ashamed to speak about. يا رسول الله إنَّ أحدنا لَيَجِدُ في نفسه ما يتعاظم عليه أن يتحدَّث به
; do you understand this statement?

The questioner: Yes, yes ... .

The Shaykh : Good. He said to them (peace and blessings be upon him):
Have you really felt like that? أو قد وجدتم ذلك ؟
Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 55:3
. They said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah. He said:
That is pure faith ذاك محض الإيمان
.
Okay, did you understand the rest of the hadith?

The questioner: ... faith.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : And therefore, you do not surrender to the intrusive thoughts. Drive them away, and whenever the intrusive thought comes to you, read Surat al-Ikhlas. Do you know it? Yes.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : No, no, it is not three times. Whenever the intrusive thought occurs to you, drive it away by reading Surat al-Ikhlas. And peace be upon you.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : You are welcome.

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner: Peace be upon you.

The Shaykh: And upon you peace.

The questioner : How are you, O Shaykh?

The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, I am well.

The questioner: All right.

The Shaykh: May Allah reward you.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good for what you have benefited Islam and the Muslims.

The Shaykh : May Allah preserve you.

The questioner : May Allah reward you, O Shaykh. How are you, is it good?

The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, I am well.

The questioner : ... from Saudi Arabia, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : Welcome.

The questioner : May Allah welcome you, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : May Allah give you life.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good for what you have presented.

The Shaykh : And you, where will you pray tomorrow?

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Where will you pray?

The questioner : Where can we find you, O Shaykh?

The Shaykh : You will find me at the Salah al-Din Mosque at the Fourth Roundabout.

The questioner : At the Fourth Roundabout, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : If Allah wills, we will come to you, if Allah wills.

The Shaykh : Welcome.

The questioner : May Allah welcome you, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh: Peace be upon you.
