What is the cure for the whispers of disbelief that afflict a person?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner: Peace be upon you.

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings and His forgiveness.

The questioner : How are you, O Shaykh?

The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, I am well.

The questioner : Praise be to Allah. Shaykh, I have some questions.

The Shaykh : Just one of them.

The questioner : One.

The Shaykh : Choose whichever you like from them.

The questioner : O Shaykh, I mean, I suffer from many whispers, O Shaykh, O our Shaykh, fleeting thoughts, O Shaykh, that shake my faith. Sometimes I feel as if I am a hypocrite or a disbeliever, and so on. I suffer from whispers, O our Shaykh. When I am walking on the road, O Shaykh, some fleeting thoughts come to me, for example, that this wind is the creator of this universe. O Shaykh, for example, when I am in prayer, O Shaykh, my intention is pure for Allah (Mighty and Majestic), O Shaykh, fleeting thoughts come to my heart, O Shaykh, as if, O Shaykh, fleeting thoughts as if I am calling upon the wind, and so on. O Shaykh, I suffer greatly.

The Shaykh : First: strive to defend yourself against the whispers of Shaytan. Second: if the result of the whisper is that you remain upon your faith, then that whisper does not harm you, and do not pay attention to it. When the whisper leaves you and goes away with its Shaytan, say: "I have believed in Allah, then remain firm." Then, all those whispers and false thoughts that turned in your mind do not affect your faith. It came in the authentic hadith: "That a group of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to him and said: O Messenger of Allah, we find in our souls what we are ashamed to mention. He said (peace and blessings be upon him):
Have you really felt like that? أوَ قد وجدتم ذلك ؟
Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 55:3
. They said: Yes. He said:
That is pure faith ذاك محض الإيمان
. What did he say?

The questioner :
That is pure faith ذاك محض الإيمان
.

The Shaykh : Ah, so end your whispers and strive against them. If you settle upon your previous faith, the whispers do not harm you. And peace be upon you.

The questioner : O Shaykh, do not forget us in your supplication, O Shaykh. Pray for us, if Allah wills.

The Shaykh : I hope for you healing from the whispers of Shaytan and from everything that harms a person.

The questioner : O our Shaykh... O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : And peace be upon you.

The questioner : And upon you be peace, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
