The Ruling on Obedience to Parents in Disobedience to Allah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The honorable Shaykh, there is a young man who committed himself to the right path, so he let his beard grow and shortened his garment. Then, when his father saw him in that state, he expelled him from the house and ordered him not to return until he shaved his beard. He then left the house, and after several years, he returned to the house to greet his family. His uncle and brother forcibly shaved his beard, and then he left the house. After that, his uncle promised him that his father was pleased with him, and he returned to the house again after his beard had grown back. When his father saw him;He expelled him and said: he said, "Do not return until you shave your beard for the second time." So he left the house and has not returned to this day. Does his father’s right over him drop, so that he does not return to his house, knowing that he may be harmed by his return? Please issue a ruling, may Allah reward you!
By Allah! I think this is a jumble of dreams; it cannot happen. Did it actually happen? The questioner: Yes! It happened.

The Shaykh: Glory be to Allah! There is no doubt that the father is now in opposition to Allah and His Messenger, if the matter is as you said; because the Messenger commanded letting the beard grow, and this man is ordering it to be shaved? Secondly, this father is disobedient to Allah and His Messenger, for he has cut off his kinship ties; because his son is among his relatives, and he is obligated to maintain ties with him. And what greater severance is there than this severance, where he orders him to disobey Allah.
Therefore, I see that his father has no right over him in this situation, and he is not obligated to maintain ties with his father, as long as he orders him to do what is wrong; except for what is necessitated by dire necessity,Because Allah says:
but accompany them in [this] world with appropriate kindnessوَصَاحِبْهُمَا فِي الدُّنْيَا مَعْرُوفاً
[Luqman: 15] .
As for those who forcibly shaved his beard; their reckoning is with Allah (Mighty and Majestic); because these people have transgressed against the Sunnah of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and they have transgressed against a Muslim man, one of the servants of Allah, who is implementing the Shari'ah of Allah.
So my advice to his father and his uncle is that they repent to Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and that they return to Him, and that this young man absolves them of what they did to him before death comes to them. For how many people have become morning without reaching evening! And how many people have become evening without reaching morning! And these two do not know when death will come to them, so they must repent to Allah.
As for the son, he should not return to the house as long as his return brings about this harm for him, and he is free from this obligation.
