Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: (But they denied the truth when it came to them)]

Allah the Exalted said:
But they denied the truth when it came to themبَلْ كَذَّبُوا بِالْحَقِّ لَمَّا جَاءَهُمْ
[Qaf 50:5]
(Bal) here: is for transitional negation, not for absolute negation; because the first is established, and the second is an addition to it, and this is the difference between (Bal) which is for absolute negation, and (Bal) which is for transitional negation, so (Bal) for negation became permanent; But if it negates the first, they call it: absolute negation,And if it does not negate it, it is: transitional negation, as if he moved from one topic to another.
But they denied the truth when it came to themبَلْ كَذَّبُوا بِالْحَقِّ لَمَّا جَاءَهُمْ
[Qaf 50:5]
But their hearts are certain, except that their tongues deny,As Allah the Exalted said about the family of Pharaoh:
And they rejected them, while their [inner] selves were convinced thereof, out of injustice and haughtinessوَجَحَدُوا بِهَا وَاسْتَيْقَنَتْهَا أَنْفُسُهُمْ ظُلْماً وَعُلُوّاً) [النمل:١٤]
[An-Naml 27:14]
.
Bal kadhdhabu bi al-haqqi lamma ja'ahum (Lamma) here: means "when," so it is an adverb of time, not a particle.
when it came to them, so they are in a confused condition.لَمَّا جَاءَهُمْ فَهُمْ فِي أَمْرٍ مَرِيجٍ
[Qaf 50:5]
(The fa) here: is for immediate succession and causality,And the meaning is: so when they denied the truth in a confused matter, the matter became confused for them, refuge with Allah,And this is like His saying, the Exalted:
And We will turn away their hearts and their eyes just as they refused to believe in it the first timeوَنُقَلِّبُ أَفْئِدَتَهُمْ وَأَبْصَارَهُمْ كَمَا لَمْ يُؤْمِنُوا بِهِ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ) [الأنعام:١١٠]
[Al-An'am 6:110]
because they did not believe in it the first time, and We leave them in their transgression wandering blindly [Al-An'am: 110] When these people denied, they became in a confused state, the matter became ambiguous for them, and they hesitated in their affair.
And so, every person who rejects the truth the first time should know that he will be tested with doubt and suspicion in accepting the truth in the future.

Therefore, it is obligatory for us, from the moment we hear that this thing is the truth, to say: We have heard and obeyed,Contrary to some people now: You tell him: The Messenger ordered this.

He says: But! Is the command for obligation or for recommendation? Glory to Allah! Do what you are commanded, whether it is obligatory or recommended.
So if you hesitate;Because the meaning of His saying: Is it for obligation or for recommendation?! Its meaning: If it is for recommendation, I am free from it, and if it is for obligation, I do it. This is a mistake,Say: We have heard and obeyed, then if disobedience occurs, at that time it may be appropriate to ask about it: Is it obligatory or recommended? It may be appropriate, but before that, it is not.

Someone might say: Is it obligatory or recommended? Because there is a difference between the obligatory and the recommended: which is more beloved to Allah? The obligatory is more beloved to Allah, so I do it so that if I believe it is obligatory, I am rewarded with the reward of the obligatory, and if I believe it is a Sunnah, I am rewarded with the reward of the Sunnah.

We said: Yes, this is better, but the reward of your submission to the truth the first time, with ease and without asking, is better than you believing it is obligatory or recommended. And if Allah has made it obligatory upon you, He will reward you with the reward of the obligatory, even if you do not know. Submission, and complete submission, is much better than my believing this is obligatory or recommended.
