Allah the Exalted said: “But they denied the truth when it came to them, so they are in a confused state.”

The Shaykh : Allah the Exalted said: [Qaf 50:5] This is a transition and a shift from one thing to another. He was previously refuting their denial of the Resurrection, then He refuted something broader than that, saying: [Qaf 50:5] “The truth” means the firm, established truth that Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) brought. So Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) came with the truth, with firm, truthful speech and a true Shari'ah in which there is nothing to invalidate it. And His saying: means “when it came to them.” [Qaf 50:5] Meaning, based on this denial, they became in a confused, agitated state, having no stability and no tranquility. Therefore, you find that the more certain a person is in the religion of Allah, the more stable and organized his work is, and the more he denies, the more he is always in anxiety. For this reason, he said: [Qaf 50:5] It is derived from this last verse that among the things by which Allah opens up to the servant in knowing the rulings of the Shari'ah is being a believer and certain. So whenever you are a believer and certain, know that Allah will open for you what He does not open for others. As for the one who is a denier, the doors of guidance are closed against him. Allah the Exalted said: [Fussilat 41:17] May Allah protect us, they are in a confused state. And by this we know that it is obligatory for a person to accept the truth as soon as he knows it, so that he does not fall into a confused state, as Allah the Exalted said: [Al-An'am 6:110] We ask Allah the Exalted to guide us and you to the truth and to grant us and you the ability to follow it and to die upon it. Indeed, He is Generous and Bountiful. And all praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon his family and all his Companions. Now, it is the time for questions.
The questioner : Peace be upon you and Allah's mercy.
The Shaykh : And upon you be peace and the mercy of Allah.
The questioner : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may prayers and blessings be upon the noblest of the prophets and messengers, our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions. And after that:
A questioner says, or a proposer says: “O honorable Shaykh, what is your opinion if you were to begin the surah by mentioning what has been reported regarding its virtue and the virtues of other surahs, so that the authentic is distinguished from the weak? And if there is a virtue in reciting the surah in prayer, that is mentioned. May Allah guide you.”
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
This is a good suggestion, and we will proceed with it, if Allah wills, because it is beneficial.
But they denied the truth when it came to them, so they are in a confused condition.
But they denied the truth when it came to them
When it came to them.
لما جاءهمso they are in a confused condition.
فهم في أمر مريجso they are in a confused condition.
And as for Thamud, We guided them, but they preferred blindness over guidance
And We will turn away their hearts and their eyes just as they refused to believe in it the first time. And We will leave them in their transgression, wandering blindly.
The questioner : Peace be upon you and Allah's mercy.
