Prohibition of Making a Grave a Festival

Your Eminence! I have a grandfather whose father has passed away—my grandfather’s father, that is. He died in the countryside, and he has a small hut to himself. My question is: What is the ruling on my grandfather gathering the family every year, or at the start of every year, to slaughter an animal there and prepare a feast?
This is an abomination;Because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) says: (Do not take my grave as a festival) and this man has taken his father’s grave as a festival.
This is forbidden for him. Tell them, my brother, that this is forbidden and that it is not permissible. And if we were to go further, we would say: The scholars say that if an abomination is committed at a deceased person’s grave, he is distressed by it; however, this requires evidence, and I do not have evidence at the moment. Nevertheless, the act itself is an abomination, so they must stop this matter and seek Allah’s forgiveness for what has occurred.
