The Ruling on the Order of the Qur'an in Prayer
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Honorable Shaykh! A man prayed a prayer with loud recitation and read Surah 'Amma after al-Fatihah in the first rak'ah, and Surah al-Qiyamah in the second rak'ah.Question: Is the order of the Qur'an in prayer obligatory?
The order is of three types:- The order of the words.
- And the order of the verses.
- And the order of the surahs.
As for the order of the words and verses, it is obligatory by scholarly consensus,It is forbidden for a person to say: [al-Fatihah:1] [al-Fatihah:3] [al-Fatihah:2] This is by agreement,And likewise the order of the words if he said: [al-Fatihah:1] al-Rahim al-Rahman, this is also forbidden by agreement.
The order of the surahs is not forbidden, but it is contrary to the guidance of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them); who nearly agreed upon it during the time of 'Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), where he arranged the Qur'an in this order that is before us,For this reason, the scholars said: It is disliked for a person to deviate from this order.
And based on this statement: This man's recitation in the first rak'ah: 'Amma,And in the second: Surah al-Qiyamah, is disliked,This is if we say: If the recitation of the prayer is the same in both rak'ahs;Because some of the scholars say: Each rak'ah has its own separate recitation, and on this basis, there is no harm.
And what appears to me: That it is better to order the recitation in the single rak'ah and the two rak'ahs following the mushaf.
