Is the ordering of the surahs obligatory in the prayer?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : A man prayed a prayer with audible recitation and read Surah 'Amr after al-Fatihah in the first rak'ah, and Surah al-Qiyamah in the second rak'ah. The question: Is the ordering of the Qur'an in the prayer obligatory?

The Shaykh : The ordering is of three types: the ordering of words, the ordering of verses, and the ordering of surahs. As for the ordering of words and verses, it is obligatory by scholarly consensus, so it is forbidden for a person to say:
[All] praise is [due] to Allah, Lord of the worlds - الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
[Al-Fatihah 1:2]
Sovereign of the Day of Recompense. مَالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ
[Al-Fatihah 1:4]
the Most Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
This is by agreement. Likewise, the ordering of words; if he said:
[All] praise is [due] to Allah, Lord of the worlds - الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ
[Al-Fatihah 1:2]
al-Rahim al-Rahman, this is also forbidden by agreement. The ordering of surahs is not forbidden, but it is contrary to the guidance of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them), on which they nearly reached consensus in the time of 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), when he arranged the Qur'an in this order that is before us. For this reason, the scholars said: It is disliked for a person to go against this order. Based on this opinion, the recitation of this man, reading 'Amr in the first rak'ah and al-Qiyamah in the second, is disliked. This is if we say that the recitation of the prayer is one in the two rak'ahs. Some of the scholars say: Every rak'ah has its own separate recitation, and in that case, there is no harm. And what appears to me is that it is better to order them in the single rak'ah and the two rak'ahs, following the mushaf. Yes.
